What is “Remote Start”?
Remote start gives drivers the power to remotely turn their vehicle’s engine on and off from far away. This is done with long-range remote transmitters that communicate over radio frequencies to a control module installed inside of the vehicle.
The primary benefit of a remote starter is climate control. Remote starting a vehicle five to ten minutes before driving can ensure that the vehicle’s inside temperature is warm in the winter OR cool in the summer.
In addition to comfort, Compustar remote starters enhance the security of a vehicle. This is accomplished by monitoring all entry points into the vehicle along with adding advanced security sensors to detect shock, tilt, motion and glass-breakage. Furthermore, Compustar systems have mechanical and digital safeguards to prevent the vehicle from being driven without the vehicle’s key present – eliminating the risk of vehicle theft.
Seamless Vehicle Integration
In partnership with Automotive Data Solutions (ADS), Firstech offers the industry’s best vehicle coverage for adding remote start and security. For over 90% of vehicles on the road, a Firstech product can be “flashed” with vehicle-specific firmware so that it can speak directly with the vehicle’s internal computer. This powerful connection allows our systems to control more vehicle functions, such as rear defrost or trunk release, without adding more wire-to-wire connections.
Firstech also offers the widest coverage of vehicle-specific t-harnesses, which greatly streamline and expedite remote start installations. These t-harnesses feature factory-style connectors that eliminate most of the wire-to-wire connections required for traditional remote start installs.
